A Friendly Kickoff
March 20-23, 2014
I recently started supporting a company as a user Experience Designer and Front End Developer on an Agile development team. It's been an incredible experience thus far where I'm learning a lot and doing what I absolutely love. It wasn't long before I started bonding with my teammates. One of them is an exceptionally talented .NET developer. He's not only skilled with code but he's a strong leader and is eager to educate those around him. I've learned a ton and am very grateful for it.
One evening as I was checking my work email I saw a note from Daniel. He asked is I have ever heard of Jekyll. I sure had. I've been working with CMSs for years and also am a HUGE fan of the Shoptalkshow with Dave Rupert and Chris Coyier. I know that Dave is really enjoying Jekyll and I had played around with it a bit myself, especially after reading Anna Debenham's 24 Ways article about GitHub Pages that included a bonus Jekyll section.
It's now a few days later and we are getting things started. Below I'll post links to assets, patterns and other tidbits as I go along.
Logo Concepts Top Two
April 8, 2014
After some more revisions, we have the top two contenders.
Logo Concepts V2
April 1, 2014
Round two of logo designs. The staggered letters are the top choice with the new badge concept running a close second.
Logo Concepts V1
March 28, 2014
Round one of logo designs. These are very rough. Dan has always played a lot of sports and really enjoys them. He gave me an idea to use varsity letters. This led to me trying out a couple of other concepts as well.
Color Palette
March 23, 2014
After looking over a list of blogs and websites that Daniel said appealed to him, I worked on Kuler to come up with a Color Palette that Daniel likes so far (demonstrated on these pages).
I also chose the Google Font, Droid Serif as the primary font for his blog design (also demonstrated on these pages). I'll change it if need be but for now it's working for Daniel.
